I was wondering if there are any good logo removers for TV Captured material for VirtualDub or AVISynth. By good I mean that I want it to not blur the place where the logo was or I don't just want a solid box of color there. Fading the logo into the background is ok, as long as it's not that noticable.

Logoaway, here: http://www.republika.pl/vander74/virtualdub/
It works in Vdub, not sure about AVIsynth. It can blur or use a solid colour box, you choose it in the settings. Use the preview screen to set it up."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
No there aren't, not IMO.Originally Posted by Torrential

If in doubt, Google it.
Logoaway works pretty good, and if all you want is a black square, well you can't get much simpler than that.Originally Posted by jimmalenko

That's fine for logos that are in the black bars, but I'm talking about the TV logos as overlays over action in the film/tv show. Every filter I've seen produces blurring/pixelation. I'd prefer to see the logo than see thatOriginally Posted by ZippyP.

DeLogo is the ONLY one that works well. It's the filter for semi-transparent logos, and the only one of the lot that can remove Alpha-Blended logs without doing more harm than good.
Take a look at the following URL for more info.

I've had fair success using DeLogo 1.3.2 from Karel Suhajda.

If the logo is fairly transparent then it removes it quite well. On more opaque areas it reverts to the "blend/smear" tactics, but with some practice and experimenting it can usually be made not noticable.

Logoaway does MUCH more than a black square!
Easier to use than delogo.
Another you may want to try is called region remove, although logoaway blends better, and done right, you can't even tell you used a filter.
It's especially good on those translucent tv station logo's (usually in the lower right), although I have used it to remove chinese hard coded captions with good results (if you fuss with it a bit).Cheers, Jim

Actually this is what the OP specified he did NOT want...I only mentioned the black (or other colour) square b/c that's what the OP asked for.

Just to be redundant, done right, logoaway won't be noticable.
If you truly want the video with no logo, wait for the DVD and buy it

I think Logoaway can only process the whole video, but you can set delogo to turn on and off as needed, so you only process the part of the capture that actually has a logo, not the whole capture.
Doh! My mistake.Originally Posted by jimmalenko
It was the two negatives that tripped me up. To replace a logo you either get one or the other, a blur or a colour square. The original pixels are gone and have to be replaced with something.
Even those "world's dumbest videos" TV shows only put a blur over the date stamp and they've got more resources than us. (Excepting possibly those members that actually work in the industry.) Logoway, IMO, does about as good a job as the blur in the video shows. It may not be to your liking but you can try it and see."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
With patience, logoaway can do much better than the world's dumbest video editors

Most TV station logo's are translucent anyhow. It's the opaque one's that are more difficult, and of course the larger the logo, the harder it is to hide.Cheers, Jim

You should be able to load the logoaway filter into a AviSynth script and turn it on and off at will. I've done it with other VD filters.Originally Posted by Barnabas

I have only once or twice seen a good logoaway job, but I have seen countless dozen of sloppy jobs. Just leave the logo. You are so used to seeing them, you forget them after a while anyway.
