    Does the HR-S5912 have a zoom feature? If not, does the SR-V101US or the HR-S9911 or 9800?

    Another question I have about s-vhs etc recorders. Is there an option to tape on vhs mode? Because if I tape on a vhs tape using s-vhs etc then I will not be able to play it back on someone elses vcr.

    VCRs are still available, yes. They will be, for a little while. Qusetion is, will they keep on manufacturing videoTAPES ? Doubtful. Sales are continuously going down, so...

    Yes, you can tape on VHS tape in VHS mode on S-VHS VCRs and the tape will play just fine on a regular VHS VCR.
