Using Womble MPEG Video Wizard

Is there a Tutorial of any sort on how to use Womble MPEG Video Wizard? I have searched everywhere on the Internet. I keep drawing a blank. I am having a bit of trouble trying to figure out how to use it. I'm trying to figure out how to use it for editing commercials. I have been using Womble MPEG2VCR, which works. But once I try editing I run into a problem. After I've spliced and diced, when I try to save it, I get a message that tells me that the program is having a problem. then it turns itself off. I could use some help there also. Thanks

I use MVW with no problems. I mostly cut and join captured laserdisc sides together, but cutting out commercials should be just as easy.

If you could be more specific about your process, etc. then a solution might be found...

Basically, what I'm trying to do is edit out commercials. I'm having trouble trying to figure out when to use "Mark In''; "Mark Out"; "Trim Left''; "Trim Right''. When I started out, I didn't think that I was that "Dense'' that I couldn't figure it out. Now, I'm starting to wonder.

I use mark in and mark out to cut a SPECIFIC segment out of the clip. Commercials for one.

Trim Left or Right is a nice convenience. Let's say at the end of the clip you recorded an extra 10 minutes or so just so you you got everything. You could do a Mark IN at the end of everything you want, then do a Trim Right to get rid of the last 10 minutes.

Same with Trim Left. Maybe you started recording early and cuaght the last 10 minutes of a previous show plus all the changeover commercials. You could forward scan into the start of what you really want and do a Mark In. Then do a Trim Left to get rid of everything before that.

You can use Mark In and Mark Out for all this too. It's just a little easier with Trim Left and Right. It's for the beginning and end of you clip (at least the way I use it).

Jayhawk is correct but middle sections can get a little tricky. I use mark in/ mark out then cut for these.
The one time I had a similar problem when using mpeg2vcr was when I had done a lot of cuts and splices. Seems the program chokes when your number of splices gets too high. As if it has a threshold of some kind. From then on I've kept the splices down. I'm talking a number like below 10.
