Try first to right click on the video link and select save target/link as. If it wont work try record / save the stream using / saving the streaming media :
Google, youtube or other flash flv video
Use http://keepvid.com/ or or http://www.keepv.com/ or http://videodownloader.net to download.
Or
Install the Firefox browser http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ then install the
DownloadHelper https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3006/
or VideoDownloader plugin https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/ or
Unplug plugin https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2254/ or
Ook? Video Ook! plugin https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2584/
If that wont help try Replay Media Catcher, http://applian.com/replay-media-catcher/ , it supports all new flash flv streaming protocols (RTMP, HTTP).

Thanks. I have always wondered as to how to save a Quicktime movie without Quicktime Pro. The link http://home.sol.se/michael/qtguide/ was quite useful. Thanks for the info.
If you do not learn from someone's knowledge and experience, then you are doing it the hard way -
Offline Explorer can record streaming Windows and Real video. I like this better than WM & RM recorder. The WM & RM recorder continues recording even if it has to rebuffer the streaming video. This results in gaps in the video. As far as I know Offline Explorer simply pieces the video together as it recieves the data.

First post...wheeeee! :P
UrlSnooper (a google search will bring up several websites for download) is extremely useful for discovering the true URL for streaming media. It acts as a proxy and logs all incoming and outgoing traffic when active. The logs can be a bit daunting to wade through, but basically you want to look for any URL that ends in the non-streaming extension for the media you're trying to download...e.g. .wmx instead of .wmx or .asf instead of .asx, etc. Copy and paste the URL in your favorite streaming downloader.
Hope this helps...my little contribution back for all the great help I've received on this site! -
For the life of me I cannot figure out how to save to disk the following Real Media file:
URLSnooper says the file is at:
rtsp://rm1.tv-tokyo.co.jp:554/real1/minisuka/movie/008b.rm
I couldn't get RMRecorder 10.2 to record it. I also tried Fresh Download and HiDownload. Maybe it's because I don't have them set up right, but I've tried it on 3 different computer setups and can't get any of them to work.
Can anyone help?
On edit: Oh yes, the clip source is at:
http://rm1.tv-tokyo.co.jp:8080/viewsource/template.html?nuyhtggaysz6wazerfsvwDafil160h...qeAnav68m8l6wf -
Success! I was able to do it using MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html), a command-line "player". I used URLSnooper to get the exact URL of the file(s) I wanted. Then I launched a Command Prompt window and ran MPlayer using this command:
mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile [outputfilename.rm] -cache 4096
For this one it was:
mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile 008b.rm -cache 4096 rtsp://rm1.tv-tokyo.co.jp:554/real1/minisuka/movie/008b.rm
You need to get the codecs at http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/codecs.html and put them in the codecs folder (created when you unpack the app). -
Is there a freeware alternative to WM Recorder ?
Have a nice Day -
For google I just use the google player, which downloads to a folder and keeps them. ConvertXtoDVD does a pretty good job of converting gvp files to DVD as well.
Read my blog here.

For those pesky Flash things like ABC TV shows, I connect the laptops Video and Audio out to my Hauppauge PVR USB2 and record. Then I crop and letterbox in Virtual Dub Mod.

Is there any way that I can capture multiple videos from a single streaming playlist?
WM Recorder used to do it automatically but then it suddenly stopped doing it, and I also switched to offline explorer since it doesn't mess the video up if it has to rebuffer. If there are multiple files on a single stream however, it only captures the first one. Help? -
Sorry none of those programs worked for me.
I connect the laptops Video and Audio out to my Hauppauge PVR USB2 and recordLive lightly, think deeply. -
After a video is downloaded from youtube as flv file, then how do i convert it to avi/mpeg/xvid?

Anyone have any suggestions for repording clips from CBS (network site or affiliates)? I cannot find a way to grab the url.
Thanks,
Scott -
It works with WM too. Real Alternative didn't work, however (until I upgraded it. It actually looks a lot better than WMP 9...)

After I disabled it on my system, I was able to capture video ok. The status window said it was only capturing at 15fps though...I'm still trying to figure out how to change that to 30fps.

Another FF extension that's worked well enough for me is Ook? Video Ook!. There's a handful of others, including DownloadHelper, but I haven't really tried most of them beyond Amazing Media Browser, KeepVid/Video Downloader, Unplug and Ook? Video Ook!.

I am a sixties music video collector but only have a dial-up connection (sad, I know).
There are tons of video blogs and sites like YOUTUBE with videos I'd like to convert to DVD.
If anyone here would like to work with me on these videos, please let me know.
Here is an an example; I'd love to get this onto a DVD:

I was just turned on to the Firefox FLV download extension recently and it makes life so much easier! Now I can save files for later or offline viewing. This really comes in handy when there are no wireless net connections around and you are bored out of your mind but have your laptop! Right now I'm just saving the FLV files and using a FLV player but I will probably try one of the FLV converters. Any suggestions on which FLV converter is the best, or suggestions on what you convert to (Divx, Xvid, mpg, etc.)?
Thanks,
Sal.
