I'm using WinDVD to record Home Video from my VCR onto the computer. Then I use TMPGEnc Authoring DVD 1.6 to burn onto a DVD-R. Why is it that sometimes (not all the time) the audio does not follow picture after burning.

On the VHS tape, it looks fine. I was wondering where does it start where the audio doesn't follow picture and if there is anyway of fixing it(an easy way hopefully)

    Thanks

Audio can get out of sync in a number of places. First, old tapes can lose the timecodes required to keep audio in sync. You might not notice it when you watch the tape, but you will when you capture it. A timebase corrector can fix this by recreating the timecodes and lining the audio up again. They are not cheap, but if you do this a lot, they are a sound investment.

Format conversion, poor encoding, errors in the file during encoding can also cause sync problems.

Start by working out where in the process things go wrong. Carefully watch you captured tape before encoding or authoring to see if it is in sync at the vert beginning of the process, then after each stage until you know where you problem lies. Then you can start to work on a fix.

It looks like it's with the recording for some videos (not all) for the audio to be out of sync. Sometimes when I rerecord it helps the situation, but doesn't always solve it. The audio out of sync is only very slight. So is this a tape problem, or the recording, or recording device?
