  1. Man my DVD collection is starting to get pretty big probably getting near 600 DVD's I'm storing them in the dvd binders for now, I have 3 200 packs almost full. Was wondering if anyone has a good way of storing and keeping track of over a 1000 dvd's. I would like to be able to go to specific sections like "Cartoons" or "Sci-Fi" quickly and easily. Also the thing that sucks about the binders is if you alphabetize them then when u add a new one you have to manually shift all the ones after the one you add.

Anyone have a good way for filing many DVD's while being able to:
    1. Access them quickly and easily
    2. Be able to break them into sections (cartoons, sci-fi ..etc)
    3. Be able to easily add new ones
    4. Be fairly compact and only hold the DISK not the case.

Is there such a thing as a DVD filing cabinet?

    Thanks,

    rhuala

I keep my 700+ in two Sony 400 disc DVD changers. I keep track of them in a Microsoft Access database, but an Excel spreadsheet would work too. Enter any kind of info about the movie you like, like genre, sort them however, include slot # in changer and access at will. Been doing this for 10 months now. You can also program these changers to list by title and stuff, just plug in a keyboard and type. I'm just lazy in that aspect, would rather just look at my list, enter slot # and press play.

Empty plastic coca cola cases (rectangular plastic boxes) comes in red and black found discarded at most retail stores.
holds 800 dvds each. easy to add the new ones in alphabetical oder. paper sleeves colorcoded for type of disk.

HatchetMan: I use a 400 Disc Sony myself, Never thought of your system tho, Thanks for the idea. OT: how do you choose a slot quickly? I even called tech support and got no help. Unless a different model, I;m at work and can't recall what model right now.

    Thanks in Advance

  7. I have 400 DVD's in a Sony DVD changer and the balance in four 200 CD binders which I have stored in a cool dark and dry cabinet. I also have all the data for these in very simple to use data base program called "My Database" which sells for a mere $39 or so at most retailers around the states.

  8. I would like to find a 200+ CD binder that you can actually lay flat and turn the pages without them "binding" near the spine because the disc pockets are so close to the binder rings.

I use a wooden box with a slot in the top just larger than a DVD case.
All feature films are placed in the box.

I have four of these cases from Maplins (UK). Each holds 320 and no problems 'binding' as they have nice big rings. Maybe you can find the same product near you?

dap, if you have any problems with amc, just check out his forum. The creator will answer most any question. I use imdb to get the info and thumbnails on all my movies. It is automatic.

Makes sence if you cut it in half, and add a back up of each movie he owns. I have about 4-5 thousand dollars worth of CD's that I legitimately bought. It all works out right rhuala2??

The aluminum cases are great... Got a 600 and 2 X 420 now. They are also avaiable at many computer fairs..
As for index i just use excell.
Only down side is the weight when full... The 600 one weighs enough that it has to be lifted with both hands... So what the heck a 1000 disk case will weigh....

The big fat knob on the front panel to go one by one is easier than using the remote, I use the button on the side of that knob that says 100 to skip by the hundreds. Can scroll through all 400 in just a couple seconds. Model # is Sony DVP-CX985V.
