    Im running premier pro.
    I have:
    Intel pentium 4 3.2 Ghz
    Gigabyte RZ series 2004 P4 5478 mainboard
    1 gig ddr ram
    128mb geforce FX5200 SD AGP
    windows xp
sometimes the program hangs or goes very slow processing a video
Is my setup standard for doing video work or should I update some/all components??
Also, I heard mac are the best computers for video (I have pc) is that true or just marketing.
I really need to get fast working video setup asap so any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott

You pc specs are up there with the best so you shouldn't have a problem. I would suggest it isn't the hardware but a software issue. When did you last do a clean install of Windows? Do you have virus checkers or anything running in the background? This sort of thing is more likely to be the reason for the slow running.

If I was in your shoes I'd do a cntrl-alt-del and select 'Task Manager' and have a look at what's running and take it from there.

WHen you say " The program" What program are you talking about. Some programs are VERY resource hungry and will sap even your machine. Other seem to run happyly with the minimum. WHen you are encoding, what is the CPU usage. on my 2.4, it's always at 95-100% when doing a heave encoding. Look in Task Manger.
