  1. Hi all. I'm trying to convert VOBs to AVI using AutoGK (usually a brainless task), but although the VOBs are fine, the output file (xvid, AC3 192kb/s CBR) loses sync. The thing with it is (and i've had this on a few things before) if i jump to any point on the timeline & play from there, it plays fine (no desync) for a while then loses sync in little bursts.
I've heard running virtualdub mp3 freeze over avi's sometimes helps but i got the impression that was for constant-time-ammount desyncs, something to do with VBR header problems. Any ideas? Is there some kind of 'background sync point' that my avi's are descending towards that i can change? OR! Is there a way i can sync audio to video at every keyframe (for example) then flash reencode same settings?
Or should i try outputting under different settings (e.g. divX, mp3 CBR/VBR)?
    Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers
    Si

You might have to do it the longer way -

Open each .VOB in VirtualDubMod and convert to Xvid seperately. You'll end up with 4-5 AVI files which you can put back together via VirtualDubMod when you're completed.

  3. Not the end of the world, by any means, since i can always go away & do other stuff. Thing is, if converting individually would sort it, then where is the problem coming from? Equally, if simply doing it through vdubmod will fix it, can i not do them all in that at the same time (or is there no option to queue up or join vobs)?
    Cheers 'fresh

Nope, no option to join the vobs, unless you use AviSynth and feed VdubMod your .AVS file. Actually, to convert them one at a time might be of use. You might find the culprit (if there IS a culprit)
