What would be the best preset for converting a Quicktime .MOV file into something Windows users could view? I want to downsample a 1 min video clip into something I could post online smaller than 2 or 3 MB.
Any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps mpeg-1 (VCD preset). You may also try MsMPEG4 (pre-DivX format). They should be viewable on PC without installing any codec.
I can confirm that mpeg1 will work on Windows and Quicktime will play it on the Mac, but msmpeg requires a codec on the Mac.
Not ffmpegx per say, but I thought this might be of some help: the only quicktime video codec, if i remember correctly, that is both Mac and Windows Quicktime compatible is Cinepak.
