Panasonic NV-VHD1 disc tray locked!

I watched a DVD in my Panasonic player but when I tried to eject it, the LCD displayed the word 'Locked'. I've tried absolutely everything to get the tray open - I even contacted Panasonic but they just suggested using a certain key combination on the player, which didn't work!

Can anyone help?

How about this:
Unplugged power cord to the player for a second or so, then plug it back in and hold down on the eject button first then press the power on button.
