ilo DVDRHD04 can it record dolby digital or surround sound??

i want to record some tv shows in surround sound i heard the ilo dvdrhd04 can do that is that even possible??

does it take the stereo signal from satellite and change it to surround sound somehow??

also can it do dolby digital too??

well I believe it records in stereo 256k mpeg audio. But the tuner is only in mono, so its not a good idea to record from the tuner if you want stereo surround sound.

Now theres something I was thinking about, maybe someone can shed some light on this. When you record a movie or show off of tv encoded in dolby 2-channel surround, does it still mean its in surround when recorded in mpeg since its still a stereo signal? I think it is, b/c I record movies off of tv and dvd in 2-channel dolby digital, and its in surround still in the mpeg format from ilo recorded dvds.
