  1. first my stats:

    with windows xp home

    1 generic dvd r/rw 12/max dl
    1. lite on DVDRW sohw-16335

    i use nero v. 6.3.1.20

(i dont remember what brand name the generic is, and it doesnt say in my device driver)

The above is my normal configuration/way for burning or backing up my home dvd's. I have had alot of success with the normal memorex dvd +r's.. and it usually takes between 15-25 minutes burning at 4X.

I bought a spindle of 20 from staples for $25.00, because i am wanting to get into disc art and printing on them. I used the first 3 with very bad results.

    Bad results:

    1. they all took an hour and a half to burn
    2. 2 of them gt to 100% then failed
    3. 1 of them got to 56% before it failed.

afterwards i put in a normal disc a ritek disc this time, and copied with no problems, in 15 minutes.

I put this here because i was wondering what you guys thought. Did i just get a bad spindle? Are printable discs usually trouble? Is it normal for a printable type disc to take longer than a non printable one?

and last can anyone recommend a good printable dvd + r disc?
I can burn in -R, but i just uually stick with +r...you know if its not broke, dont fix it

    Thanks

Use DVDInfo to read the media code from the "good" Memorex discs you used before, then read the media code from a "bad" Memorex disc.

Almost certainly your new printable discs are a different media code.
