  1. Hello, I have just bought a DVD recorder (the Sony GX300). If I save a film which is broadcasted in 5.1, then copy it to DVD, is there anyway in keeping it 5.1 because my first effort played in Dolby Prologic.

Is there a setting or is it a general thing that this cannot be done ?

    Thanks

    Paul

  2. How is the audio connected to the DVR?

Unless this connection is digital, no 5.1 capture is possible. Unless you have 6 channel input on the DVR.

  3. Thanks for all your quick replies.

    Here is my set up

    I have Sky Plus
I have the Sony DVD Recorder connected to the Sky Plus Via Scart
I can record from The Sky Plus onto The DVD recorder no problem but only in stereo.

Is there anyway of recording in 5.1 ?
Do I need to connect both devices with an optical ?

I hope that is clear ?

    Thanks

    Paul

The Sky+ box will only give 5.1 audio through the optical out. You would need a recorder that has a digital audio input (optical or coax via converter). I know the Sony has an optical audio output, but does it have any kind of digital input?
