I'm a bit worried. I just bought this recorder yesterday so I can use it with my dishnet satellite. I'm worried about the CPRM copy once protection scheme on this recorder. I was reading on HBO's site, and they have that CPRM thing. Here's what it saids in the 220 manual in the FAQ section.

"Can I record a copy-once protected program from a subscription satellite or cable channel?

Yes, but you'll need to use a CPRM-compatible DVD-RW disc initialized for VR mode recording"

I'm a bit worried now. If I use the VR mode, then I won't be able to play it on anything but the dvd recorder. My dish is being installed in a few days, so I can't even test this out yet.

Are there anyone out there using this recorder with their dishnet for HBO using video mode R/RW?
This recorder will be useless to me if I can't record off HBO.

By the way, how am I supposed to record channels above 125? The built in tuner only goes from 1-125. Am I supposed to use the satellite reciever's s-video output and put it in the 220's input and record that way?

  3. I can't see how you wouldn't be able to record, even if you just hook up
an s-vdio lead from your sat unit to the 220 (vs. using the tuner)
I don't get it, w/ this new CPRM CP, (I read about this today also)
and it didn't phase me one bit. If anything, there is always a way
around most anything. You just have to be experimentive, and having
a few tools (even old ones) laying around can help. Read here for an
    example of just this situation:

That is one way of baking a pie (above)

Yes. That's how I used to do it w/ my old DirecTV account.
