    Anyone encountered this before?

I have used Melody printable DVDR for a long time and have had about 95% success rate. Recently however some of the DVDs I burn play fine but have difficulty ejecting( the tray comes out but the DVD remains inside the player). Lightly sandpapering(very fine sandpaper) the centre seems to fix this issue. So the hole in the middle of the disks seems to be where the problem occurs.

    What say you all?

Just a guess, but you mentioned that the discs were printable, and it's possible that the ink is sticky enough to cause the disc to stick to the chuck plate (that's the arm that clamps the disc inside the player) disc clamper assembly.

If the ink isn't totally dry, or it's used in a dampish environment, it could stick. I used to see this happen on some cd's that had labels with glossy paper.

If it only happens on discs with print ink on them, it is likely the cause. But, if it happens on the same discs before you print to them, then Bazooka's suggestion is better.

I dont believe that to be the case as most of the problem disks havent been printed onto yet.

Lightly sanding the centre hole with very fine paper fixes the issue.

Hmmmm ... this sounds pretty on topic to me. What's it doing in the off topic forum?
