hi
how to recognize if i have 40 or 80 pin ide ata cable?
is there any sign on them i should read?

often have a blue connector at mobo end, although I''ve also see other colors used..
side by side you will see smaller denser wires vs. 40 pin

The amount of pins are the same on both types of cables, 80 conductor just has more ground leads. If you look at a floppy cable, they are generally the same density as a 40 conductor IDE cable. A 80 conductor cable would have much finer wires.
