Lacie d2 FW 8x dvd burner and Toast problems.

I wasn't exactly sure where to put this.

I just bought a brand new 8x dual format firewire dvd burner from Lacie. I got that on friday and it's worked perfectly for two days. Today (sunday), OUT OF NOWHERE, it stopped being recognized in Toast. It simply does not show up.

I'm running 10.3.8 and Toast 6.0.7. The drive is recognized in the system profiler. However, there is a carrot (>) in front of it.

what's going on? I'll be really bummed if the drive is bummed.

not sure if it'll work, but dsp wouldn't recognize our drive the other day so we dl this and now it worked. or try toast 6.09

You don't say what all you've done to troubleshoot this. The first thing is to shut down your Mac and turn off the drive. Then restart and turn it back on.

I'm sorry, you're absolutely right. After fiddling with the cables for an hour, repairing permissions, using tech tool pro, and scouring the internet for similiar issues. I just turned the computer and drive off and let it sit for 10 minutes. I'm on a Tibook G4 500 so I hit the pmu reset button as well. (haven't done that in a while). When I turned the comp back on everything was working again. So either resetting the pmu or just turning the comp off fixed the problem. what a relief!!
