  1. I'm very happy with my new UK version of the Canon Pixma iP4000.
I bought it to be able to print directly to printable CD's and DVD's.

However one thing has me really stumped.
In the print driver there are two choices for DVD Media ... ether "Recomended" or "Other".
I have thus far been completely unable to find out what Canon is talking about!

Do the have a list of "recomended" brands?
    What are they?
How does the printer treat the "other" media differently?
    More ink, Less Ink?

If anyone can help, Id be greatful!

    Hey arklab

I bet it is there so you waste more ink.

  5. I'm waiting for my iP4000 to arrive on Monday... But have you tried to compare the results of either driver with the same printables? My search on Canon UK's site just says "standard" for the media -- so unless different brands use different materials for the printable surface, I would think it matters little...

Surely you dont expect a response from this side of the ocean? That model will not print to CD/DVD over here.

Perhaps they are refering to Non Hub Printalbe vs Hub printable.

No, this is a UK version bought through Expansys-USA.

No, that's controlled by the print program, not the driver.

This is clearly a media choice. Trouble is, they don't tell you which is which, and I can't afford to test 50 different brands of printable CD/DVD's.

Unless, of course, you would like to send me them?
