My mates DVD Player is jumping when playing any movie

Would the cheap Sub Woofer speaker he has next to the DVD Player cause his heads to go out of alignment

    is this possible ?

probably not, it would mess up his tv if the sub is big enough but we've never run into that issue.

An Unsheilded sub, or any unsheilded speaker would affect the PT, not the dvd player, except maybe the vibration from the sub making the dvd/cd player skip which i have had happen..... 8)

It is possible the vibration from the sub is causing it to skip, especially if it is in/on the entertainment unit. Try disconnecting the sub and see if that makes a difference. If it is the sub, you can try turning down its gain or moving it to another location.

Is it on a carpet or wood floor? If it is a "crappy" sub, I doubt that it could put out enough lows to make a dvd skip, most player have safeguards against skipping.

#1: a dvd player does not have "heads"
#2: see my previous post which suggest's the same thing as OmegaSupreme said.......
