    Ok, I can't figure this out. I have a high-quality Divx rip in 2 parts. The second part plays fine in the DVP-642, but the first will not play at all.

    Here's what I know:
    * The files are oversized (the first part about 1.19 Gb, the second 826 MB). I have already figured out that the player doesn't even see files over 2 GB, and I've played files before that were about 1.9 GB, so I know it isn't just the size.

    * It's DivX 5.

    * There is NO QPEL or GMC.

    * There is nothing abnormal about the bitrate; it's around 1000 to 1100 (long movie).

    * Audio is Ac3.

    * I have tried saving it out through VirtualDubMod with direct stream copy, but to no avail.

    * I have tried rebuilding the index with DivFix.

    * I've actually tried the file on TWO DVP-642 players (my dad has one). Didn't work in either.

    * The player's behavior is simply to skip the file. You see the "reading index" message, and then you see it again because it's moved on to the next file.

    I am about to the point where I'm thinking of recoding the whole thing. Don't wanna.

    Ideas??

    Problem solved

    This was a weird one. I noted that there was no sound behind the Warner Bros. logo at the beginning. Turns out the file had an audio delay of 12919 ms.

    So I stripped out the audio, which wouldn't play. Apparently there was no AC3 header information (odd, since the computer *would* play it when it was contained in the AVI). I ran it through Ac3fixGUI, which fixed that problem, and then used AC3 Delay Corrector to add 12919 ms of silence at the beginning.

    I muxed it back in with the video. Plays great now.
