642 DivX video fix causes audio sync problems

Hello all,

I have a DivX video file that I'd like to play using this DVD player. However, when I first put the disc in, the color is very distorted and the DVD is unwatchable. I did a forum search and found an easy fix. Simply hit the "System Menu" button twice and the color returns to normal.

However, whenever I do this, the audio in the file becomes out of sync with the video. When the picture was distorted, the video and audio become out of sync. What can I do to fix this?

covert again the avi file in virtualdub (video in divx compression) and audio in MP3 compression 48kHz 128kbit/s if you find an audio skew, otherwise in audio section use direct stream copy

I'm sorry, but my post was confusing. What I meant to say was the following:

When the picture was distorted, the video and audio DO NOT become out of sync.


In other words, the video itself is fine. Should I still re-encode?

First try an experiment, as silly as it might sound: Burn the video first on the disc, and something else last (like an MP3 file or a small AVI file, about 1 meg in size). Now see if this helps with any of your problems.

This player is very sensitive to disc quality, and will act weird if it doesn't like the disc. Often doing as I suggest above can help... at least it helps with my particular player. I never burn a single .AVI onto a disc anymore, I always put something else last after the main movie. This has cured many of my problems. I never seen to notice any desynched audio/video anymore.

well, where's the problem?

follow these steps:

If the video is incorrect, audio OK - use virtualdub (video normal recompress, audio direct stream copy)

If video is good, audio bad (time shift)- use virtualdub (video - direct stream copy, audio - save audio to wav then full recompress - compression MP3 - 48kHz, 128kbit/s)

If both are bad - use virtualdub and recompress both (audio - save audio to wav then full, video - normal recompress)

yes, the problem is bad "audio header" according to virtuadub....

encode audio and video i virtualdub and audio will be OK, and you wont need to fix the video anymore (it wil fix everything)

do not forget to save audio to wav and when encoding audio choose audio source from this wav file

hey dude i would just try to restream the audio and video in vdubmod and see if that fixes it,,before doing all the recoding,,that will prob fix ur sync issue,,recoding video should always be last resort,,

i told you if audio shift was the only problem recode audio, not video- read more carefully (but you will not solve the blurring picture problem - you have to always use "system button"
the option "direct stream copy" means - no encoding just copy the video (audio) as it is.....
if both are bad (audio and video) recode both
