642 - best way to re-encode bad Xvid?

Hi,

It seems there are a few XVID and DIVX I need to re-encode (colorskin is blue and all tips I found did not solve it- note that the majority of Xvid and Divx I play are ok).

I would like to know what is the best, esiest, and fastest way to re-encode the bad files?

Using Dr.Divx seems to take quite some time to re-encode a 20 minutes episode... PLus, I don't really know the best settings to choose from and I'd hate to loose quailty of the original video file.

So, what do you suggest I use to re-encode? Perhaps you can point me to a step by step procedure already posted on videohelp.com? or your own recipe?

Many ways to do this, and this is a simple one.

You'll need:

DivFix
Gspot
VirtualDub

Run the files through DivFix to ensure they are good.

Open the files in Gspot and write down the video bit rate.

Open a file in VirtualDub

Use DivX as the compression.

Use the same bit rate as the original, or add 100 if you have room on the disk.

Set Audio for Direct Stream Copy

Save AVI

And see if it works.
