Try AviMuxGui . Make sure the audio file is CBR. Don't encode the audio at too high a bit rate. For testing, try 128kbs.

  4. Download and install the latest GSpot (1.52beta). Then open your avi with Gspot. Look to see if your files have GMC and/or QPEL - You don't want these.

Your problem is not QPEL or it wouldn't play at all. It might have issues with GMC though, and this could be your problem.

Also look at PAR (pixel aspect ratio). This should be 1.00, meaning "square pixels". This could cause issues too if they aren't square (other than 1.00), like the DVP642 might not recognise the file.

  6. Right, Mpeg4modifier will correct the square pixel issue. Did you use Gspot to see if your files had GMC?

I think GMC is okay for Divx but not for Xvid.

Also if you double click on the system menu to get a semi-transparent background on subtitles, this may have an adverse effect on Divx files while it does the opposite for Xvid files (helps them play better).

  7. no gmc or qpel,,,its in the mux,,,what settings do you use in avimux for the 642??if i have a file with cbr that i mux with vdub and it works fine,,then i mux the original with avi-mux and it dont play right,,that means it comes down to the way avi-mux is muxing it
