When first started burning used bad media. Played with old Daewoo 5800 with firmware update. Now I have a bunch of movies that Id rather not spend the money to transfer to good.

I need a player that will play them without skipping

    any suggestions

I also had many problems with cheap media not playing nicely with my Samsung player.
To my big surprise it playes fluently on a JVC DVD/MD compo of a family member. Now I trust JVC more but my experience is limited anyway.

  3. A much simpler solution is to rip your old bad-media DVDs to your hard drive and re-burn 'em on new good media. If the DVD-R media were crap like Optodisc or Princo, you'll want to do this anyway, 'cause I guarant-friggin'-tee you those brands of media will go bad on you and stop playing entirely sooner rather than later.
