I'm thinking I need to re-install some programs or something because, it seems like I can't rip/burn anything anymore.

I am trying to backup Bourne Supremacy, Friday Night Lights and LoR: Return of the King Extended and cannot.

With Bourne Supremacy and Friday Night Lights I get an error with DVD Shrink. Something along the lines of, "Error, an exception has occurred". I tried using DVD Decrypter to decrypt(which it did fully decrypt it) but then when I put the unprotected version in dvd shrink in order to shrink it to 4.3GB, it gives me the same error.

With LoR: Return of the King Extended, I got it completely unprotected and shrunk using DVD Shrink. But then got a burn error near the end using Nero 6 Ultimate.

I have made over a hundred backups and haven't had any problems in the past. I have not changed medias.

Do I need to uninstall/reinstall any of the programs? Or are there known problems when backing up these specific movies? The thing is, it's two diffeerent errors w/ two different programs.

The DVDShrink issue isn't as big as deal, but the Nero issue is, I can't test too much, cause it wastes my dvdr's.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  2. Do a search, I've seen people posting with problems with these two movies, specifically, before.

Allrightythen. You don't have your computer profile filled in so this will be a shot in the dark. If you're running xp pick a restore point from a date before the trouble started. If that cures it then that will be a quick fix.
The alternative is a system reinstall.
If you have any backups that might save you a bunch of time.

Uninstall Shrink first, then reinstall. If you still have problems, try an older version of Shrink, maybe 3.05. Get the latest version of Decrypter. Try using Decrypter to burn instead of Nero. It may be any or all these programs that are causing the problem. Those particular videos may be a little more difficult, but I have backed up all but Friday Night Lights (Haven't purchased it) with no problems using just Shrink and Nero.

    chewie:

Two of the three films are DVDs which are using Sony's ARccOS™ protection system -- this is the new form of copy protection scheme used on Resident Evil II, the Forgotten, and a lot more. --> (it includes "Bourne Supremacy" and "Friday Night Lights"). For a list of all DVDs which use this, click here:

And, read about the solution(s) here:

If you wonder why some people had no problems, it may be because they made different decisions about what parts of a DVD to back up (for example, they chose the movie only, and you chose the menus and extras... as an example).

Thanks for the help thus far. I did do a search and got Bourne Supremacy to burn(choose no compression on the unreferenced material). I'll check the links given.

    I am running XP btw.
