Okay, I have the Panasonic DMR-E85H. I live in the US and bought my dvd recorder in the US. My Apex AD1500 was bought hacked so that I could play any region dvd on it, but it finally bit the big one and I can no longer fix it myself. I want to be able to play the European dvd's that I have on my E85H. Can someone helpe me out? I noticed that there was a webiste under the hacks for it, but it's a UK site. Does anyone know if their fix will work on my US recorder?

Hmm, I thought it was this site youre on right now, has a hack section?
Even if you can make your E85H region-free, which probably requires either hardware modification or a service remote, it can still only play back NTSC discs, not PAL ones. You are much better off to buy another DVD player which can handle both PAL/NTSC discs and is easy to convert to region-free. Most DVD recorders sold in Europe could play back both PAL/NTSC discs by default, but not the ones sold in the US.Originally Posted by fvnesscafe
Many DVD players (and DVD Recorders) can play PAL disk in the US. Some examples are: the Philips-724, Philips 634, Apex-1500, Prima 1500, etc. Look under DVD-hacks to see if a DVD player can be made region free.
