Hi all, just wondering whether you can watch Region 2 DVDs in Region 4 (Australia) without needing a multi-region player as I've heard from a couple of people that it's possible?

You might be able to hack the player into a multi-region... See "DVD Hacks" link to the left for the player in question.
If it's on the PC you're talking about, you can get software that bypasses the region setting and so is effectively multi-region. DVD Region Free is one example...There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
One other way is to rip it to your computer with DVD Decrypter, this makes it region free, then burn it to a recordable DVD.

I live in UK, and most movies I buy say on them Region 2+4, so i think that most will play as ok. I have ordered DVDs from the web and I have got a R4 version (as they are dual coded) and they play perfect on a region 2 only player. I think since UK is R2 PAL and Aus is R4 PAL they are just the same.
