    I have an early 642 with F/W 0113 on it. Is here any reason to upgrade? Do I gain any new feature or function? I'm reluctant because mine is macro-free and I suspect any upgrade would turn macro on.

    The macro-free is good if you want to go from DVD to VHS,The new upgrade,I think handles SUBs better,there is also a Hacked firmware that ads a minor background to see the subs better,Just search 642.

    upgrade from your version to al least 0531 adds very crucial feature to your player - support of DivX subtitles and support of VOD
