  1. I have a DCT 6200 HD cable box with a DVI output enable, I want connect to my Dell Ulttrasharp 1800FP (LCD PC Monitor), I set up the cable box to 720p resolution but the screen only appears one minute and later change to black.
I reviewed the LCD features and it supports the 720p resolution, the strange part is tha in the SETUP window shows the preset mode to 640 x 480 resoluition instead the highest resolution.

Is a layers problem or I need other LCD monitor?

SIGNAL> DSUB ANALOG? What other setting are available? That sounds like a VGA setting, not DVI.

Welcome to the world of the HDTV version of DVI-I and HDCP

Unless that cable tuner specifically has an unencrypted RGB out, you need a Y, Pb, Pr to RGBS transcoder.

Sorry for the confusion the screen is only to give a idea of the resolution. I am conected with the DVI input but only shows 640 x 480 resolution. The signal is DVI but only appear a seconds after that is black

DVI-I contains pins for both digital (DVD-D) and analog (VGA). Many cable boxes use HDCP encryption on the DVI-D pins so that a standard computer monitor (and other devices) cannot be connected. If you use the the VGA pins you should always be able to see 640x480 but that isn't HDTV. The cable company may or may not cooperate in setting the box for higher RGB resolutions but often only Y, Pr, Pb is supported for 720p or 1080i unless you have a DVI device that supports HDCP encryption (such as a HDTV).

See the links above to undestand the issues.

it may not be also exactly the right refresh rate either - which many lcd panels have an issue with ..

or HDCP issues -- or any of the other issues mentioned
