I find that I often have problems copying my copies. I've had this problem with several different discs, of several different brands. First I thought that the disc was just probably a bit dirty or scratched, but this has happened with several "newly copied" discs. Basically, I try to rip files from a DVD+R and the process freezes at some point. I've tried several different methods on the same disc, and no luck. I've tried ripping with DVD Decrypter, ISO Buster, and some other piece of software. I've also tried DVDShrink (I know there was no need to shrink, but I was just trying all options) and I've tried just straight-copying the files onto the hard drive. Every time the same result: the process get's hung up in basically the same spot. Very frustrating since I've removed the original files from my hard drive. Any ideas?

    Rip the original disc again.

it only becomes a problem if you damaged/lost the original.

as for what is happening to you: is it the same spot on every dvdr or just the one?

    DvdDecrypter-ISO read ISO write.
if that doesnt work and you dont have the original files, you're SOL.

  5. I had this problem as well. Run DVDINFOPRO surface scan. I bet there are unreadable sectors on the disc. Your home dvd player may play the disc, but when you are making a backing-up a dvd, each sector is copied and the computer will freeze on a bad sector. Solution is to burn at a slower speed, or after each burn, run a surface scan to make sure the disc does not have any errors.

it seems to be different spots on all discs. as luck would have it, i seem to have "misplaced" the original discs. bad sectors is what i thought. maybe i'll try burning at a lower speed. as far as the suggestion of "DVD Decrypter - ISO read, ISO write" of course i tried that.

It sounds like you need to find the originals.
