LinearPCM won't play on set top???

Since the original DVD was created through SonicMyDVD, then i would assume that every settop should be able to play it
Ironically, the DVD player recognizes the LPCM handle..


I was thinking of converting all twelve titles to .AC3, via demuxing in DVDDecryptor, but i'd like to keep the original menu structure..

Happened again...

I've got a DVD with LPCM. Ironically the player recognizes the format, but i can't get any sound..
I've got composite cables going out to my Techniques Receiver..
Is there something i'm missing here??

In reference to your first point - never assume that any DVD you create at home will play in any DVD player. Even factory pressed studio disks do not have a 100% success rate. Assume yours will be much lower.

Changing the audio with affecting the structure is complicated. If you don't want to spend the effort doing it properly, don't do it.

Finally, the audio. First - is this second disk a pressed disk, or a burned disk ?
Is there a menu, if so, does it have audio, if so, what format is the audio ? DVD players do not like mixed audio in the same titleset. If your menu and movie are in the same titleset, and your menu is MP2 (for example) and your movie audio is LPCM, the player will play the menu audio, but may refuse to alter itself to play the movie audio. Even mixing AC3 2.0 and 5.1 can cause problems.

When you say 'composite cables', do you mean stereo RCA jacks ? Composite is only for video, not audio.

I have a DVD player that will not play LPCM audio unless I go to the internal menu of the DVD player and change one of the sound options.

I then have to change it back for AC-3 audio.

So try poking around the set-up menu of your DVD player.

It was a single layer original..I'm assuming single layers can also be pressed. One of them hunting how to's you get at Bass Pro...

Seems to be my problem also, exept the internal options are for DTS, and Dolby on/off..Very basic stuff..

In your original post you state the disc was created in sonic mydvd, so this means it must be a burned disc, not pressed. I would open one of the vob's with g-spot to check audio type and bitrate, making sure bitrate is 48k. Next double check connections on back of dvd player making sure you have stereo rca cables from red/white "stereo out" connected to red/white "stereo in" connections on reciever/processor. Make sure you have selected the right input on the front of your reciever (sounds silly but I have accidently connected audio and video to inputs for the wrong source, it's dark back there and I have about a dozen inputs real close together) Lastly there may be a menu or switch on your reciever to enable lpcm or conversley defeat dts/ dd. Hope you solve the problem.
