  1. In effort to keep the best quality possible when going from DVD 9 to DVD 5, I'm trying to use InterVideo DVD Copy 2 to do the encoding since it does a pretty good job on higher compressions (i.e. more than 15%) which is usually the case since I'm often burning movies with DTS tracks.

Here's the problem: Normally, I'll rip with DVD Decrypter, then author with DVD Copy2. However, DVD Copy 2 doesn't allow me to select multiple audio programs (you either choose 1 or all). I often want both a DTS and an AC3 program, just in case.

To combat this, instead of DVD Decrypter I've started ripping the movies using DVD Shrink. I set DVD Shrink to make a DVD 9 disc so that no compression is necessary, re-author it selecting the movie and all the audio programs I want, and output it to the hard drive. Then I hit it those files DVD Shrink produces with DVD Copy 2 to yeild the quality DVD5 I'm after.

My question: Am I fooling myself by doing this workaround? Is using DVD Shrink to do a no-compression rip of the items I want in this manner going to result in the same quality rip as DVD Decrypter? (with fewer files, of course)

I think for what you want to do, you're probably doing it the fastest and easiest way already

DVDShrink with no compression is just ripping the files (not touching the video and audio streams themselves), and doing a bit of IFO adjustment, depending on what you've selected to keep. So Yes, it should be exactly the same as ripping with DVDDecrypter.
    If in doubt, Google it.
