I've noticed that the DVD-Rs I've burned sometimes take longer to load tracks than commercial DVDs. There is also a delay in one of the audio tracks when I play it. The Synch is not off, it just takes a half a second to come up. I don't see a way to fix this. In the simulation it all runs perfectly.
Would this be because of a DVD-R limitation? Will it still have those problems once I replicate into a DVD?
    thanks

  2. my old daewoo player does that, I just figured it has a bit of a rougher time reading the dye on a dvd-r then it does reading a silver pressed dvd.

just be glad your player reads burned discs

I had that happen with a few disks that I made. At that time I was using Power Producer Gold to create DVD files and then importing to TMPGEnc DVD Author to create menus and the final disk.

When I changed programs (I got the ac3 plug-in for TMPGEnc so could leave out the Power Producer step) the problem went away. You don't show what programs you're using, so it could be a similar problem.

What do you mean 'once I replicate into a DVD'? Are you going to have the DVD-R(s) converted to commercial pressed DVDs?

I'm using DVD studio pro 3 and the AC3 encoder. That problem started when I added scripts and chapter markers to some of the tracks.

Yes. That is what I'm doing. And I'm basically trying to determine if the problem is with the player or the disk image itself before sending it off. I tryed the DVD-R on another player and did'nt have that problem. So in addition to what zod5000 said, I have reason to belive the image is fine.

I can attest to DVDSP3 being fine.
Just in case this is related, moving to Mac forum....

But yes, it may just be the player.

    Its a player issue.
in tests that i've done personally
    using DVDSP3 to author dvd-rs
    and playback on an RCA5240P
an an Apex-1500, the Apex reads
and 'mounts', for lack of a better word,
the dvd-r 5 sec faster than the RCA5240P,
which takes an average time of (max) 14 sec.
But in terms of error handling,
    (incorrect scripts for operands,
    submenu transitions, etc.) less stutter
or error out happens on the 5240P than
    on the Apex-1500.

In another instance testing with an
Dell laptop, with an internal Combo Drive,
the test dvds took an average of 33 secs
to mount, provided they didn't error out
which happened 2 out of every 4 attempts.
in comparison, no mounts problems occurred on
any mac laptops or towers tested.
