  1. Hi there,

I have the philips DVP 630 and cannot get my Sony DAVs receiver to register Dolby Digital when playing an AC3 DivX disc. The DVP630 is connected via the optical cable, and i am sure my reciever works fine (used my playstation 2 to verify that it would detect an external 5.1 signal)
All i get is Dolby Prologic II.

I have the dvp630_05_fus_eng firmware upgrade installed - (is this the latest one?)

Also not sure if this is worth mentioning but i am kinda sure that the DD icon did apear on my Sony receiver at first, but after i installed the firmware it no longer appears - however i am not to sure of this.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this is really sarting to drive me mad!

P.S great website, used it alot - but this is my first post!

    Hello,

I have a Sony receiver that's a few years old. It has the blue light that indicates a digital source. Does that light up at all on your receiver or is it a different model??? (many Sony's have this feature).

Also, Sony receivers have an Auto Format Decode option on them. That will select the correct sound mode for you. Is this selected????

  3. Hi Kevin

    Thanks for the reply.

I have the Sony DAVS 450 (home cinema amp/dvd player) and i do not think it has a blue light, it has a written display that either lights up "DTS" "DolbyDigital" or "Dolby Prologic II" depending on the DVD it is playing.

If i have it on auto decode the Dolby Prologic II light goes out and i get a kind of stereo sound, if i have it on Normal decode i can get Dolby Prologic II

  4. Kevin,

    Yes just checked.

Playing an AC3 DivX file on my DVP630 with auto decode, and i get a stereo sound, when its on Normal decode the Dolby Prologic II emblem lights up.

I know that the optical cable is connected correctly becase if i turn on the DVP630 whilst Sky is on the DVP630 optical output interfers with the Sky sound (have both optical cables going into a double entry down to one cable converter which is then plugged into my Sony receiver)

Also just to correct an earlier mistake i have the DAVs 550 system.

Does anyone know the latest firmware for the DVP630? (which i may already have)

    Thanks in advance!
