I've searched the guides and couldn't find any info on this. I want to created a dvd using two different camera angles from the same live concert. Is it possible to create a multi angle dvd so the viewer can choose which angle he/she wants? Can this be done in DVD Lab pro?

No. It's on the development roadmap for DVD Lab Pro, but the facility is not available yet. You probably need to look at the very big boys in DVD - Scenarist, maybe Maestro to do this. If it is possible with ifoedit, it must be pretty tough as no one appears to written a guide as yet.

While it's not the same thing (the user can't change angles themselves) you could look at playlists in DVD Lab Pro. Encode both versions one after the other, cut them up into lots of chapters, then use playlists to create different versions of the concert (one from camera a, one from camera b, one using both) that the user can choose from.

Darn. Was hoping it was doable with DVD Lab Pro. Still on the free trial. Plan to purchase it. But programs like Scenarist and Maestro are a bit out of my budget right now.

  4. Why don't you create your own multi angle dvd. Similar to to making a dvd with extras on it. Being you're the one directing the authoring...make it point to where ever you want.

    hope this helps

    I know how you feel.

slicebogey - have you ever watched a multi-angle title ? We are not talking about a simple edit job, we are talking about a complex authoring feature that allows the viewer to pick which angle they want to view at any stage.

Multi-Angle can only be done by the big boys--Scenarist, DVDCreator(Mac), Maestro, DVDStudioPro(Mac). You also could try Pinnacle's DVD ImpressionPro (originally Minerva). It's the cheapest app you can get and still do multiangle. I've got it. IIRC, I think it cost $299US. I bit buggy, but gets the job done.
You could conceivablly do it in IFOEdit. Creating/adjusting the flags for multiangle is just 1/2 the battle, though. You'd also have to mux the file(s) so that the angles would be interleaved GOP-by-GOP. This is what is really going on. You can double-check this by taking a pre-authored M.A. title and copying/decrypting it to HardDrive. then open up the VOB in VirtualDubMod. When playing, it'll show the interleaving.
There are strict, particular requirements when encoding to MPEG the angles. Look at some of my past posts to get a list.
It would be amazing if a lower cost/shareware/freeware app could do multiangle. More power to DVDLab Pro!
