Is your 108 the Master or Slave? My 108 is the Master and it shows as ultra dma 4.
For the 108 even at 16X DVD burning that only translates to 22.4 MB/sec. transfer speed needed. 52X CD is only 7.8 MB/S. Are you sure you're not worrying about nothing?I would think that Mode 3 would be plenty sufficient with a margin too.
Check the speeds:
DMA
Mode 0
16.7 MB/S
ATA/ATAPI-4
Mode 1
25.0 MB/S
ATA/ATAPI-4
Mode 2
33.3 MB/S
ATA/ATAPI-4
Mode 3
44.4 MB/S
ATA/ATAPI-5
Mode 4
66.7 MB/S
ATA/ATAPI-5
Mode 5
100.0 MB/S
ATA/ATAPI-6?
no mine is the slave im not really bothered but was just wondering if it had to be at ultra4 but if it doesnt then i will just leave it for now cheers
Can someone show me how to change from ultra DMA 2 to 4? If it's possible.
go into control panal then system then hardware then device manager then ide ata/ atapi controls then if its primary or secondary ide channel and you will see it in there to change
Sorry but it doesn't allow me to change it. I can only change from PIO to DMA and viceaversa. Not the ability to change DMA.
Then it's probably defaulting to the highest mode supported by all the hardware in the chain ....PCI bus, IDE controller, cable and HDOriginally Posted by mn072065
well the only way you will get 4x is if you have a 80 pin connector if yours is only 40 pin then it will only be 2x
SO I need to get an 80 pin connector. I'm new at this, do I just ask for this at a COmpusa store? Thanks
just ask for a ide cable 80 pin instead of a 40 pin then just connect it to your dvdrom and your dvdwriter like the one you have now and it should change to 4x
