Liteon 1633S media problems

I bought this drive last week, and am having trouble using the same media I used with DVR105 Pioneer drive. The cheap media burns but does not play on my Phillips DVD player, I've tried both -R and +R. I bought some Mitsumi +R on the weekend, and after a successful burn the DVD player refuses continue playing past the 1:10 min mark of the movie. I've tried this with 4 disks so far. I've also upgraded the firmware to BSC (I think) from the Lite on homepage. Is anyone else having issues with this drive? i'm not happy with Lite on so far. I'm thinking of returning back tomorrow.

you'd be better off getting some quality discs with that drive. Have a look at the cdfreaks forum, you'll find a lot of k-probe scans and burning tips. Common feeling is that lite-on likes ricohjpn ID'd +R discs

i got this drive and works great on the media i got, and i got quite a few differnt brands (media codes)
