What output format to use in Adobe premiere

Hello

I have just finished editing a home video using premiere pro 1.5. I was trying to export the movie and convert it to mpeg-2 so i can burn it onto
DVD-R. However; i found that if I export the movie as Windows AVI format in premiere, the quality is poor even if I set the quality to 100%. If i use Windows DV AVI, the quality is good but TMPGenc 2.5 plus doesn't seem to recognize this format, because when i re-encode it i only have music but no video from the clip created. Can anyone give me some help here? Also, what compression codec should i use when exporting the movie in premiere?

You can frameserve from adobe premiere directly to tmpgenc using Debugmode FrameServer (no need to create an avi). You can also try install the panasonic dv codec and you should be able to open the dv in tmpgenc.

Why don't you use the mainconcept encoder that comes with Premiere? That's what it's there for.

I out put my premiere edited files to MPG2 using the Mainconcept plug in that it includes. You should them be able to use those MPG2 files in just about any DVD authoring program. I own both Premiere and and Encore so my premiere MPG2 outputs are always proper and fully accepted by Encore. They will also work in TDA.
