I need a standalone "PAL-M tuner outputting Y/C". The box will receive Brazilian TV broadcast system "PAL-M" and output S-video (not composite).

I would like to know what are your thoughts on how I can accomplish this requirement.

    Requirements:
Video Input Standard: PAL-M TV Tuner
Video Output Standard: PAL-M (Brazil) and/or NTSC 3.58 (USA)
    Video Input: RF (PAL-M)
    Video Output: S-Video

    Solutions and Challenges:
    1- Worldwide S-VHS vcr
Note: I can't find any worldwide S-VHS vcrs

    2- PAL-M S-VHS vcr
Note: PAL-M S-VHS vcrs don't exist in Brazil

    Analog TV Standards:
Note: The only difference between PAL-M and NTSC-M, is the color subcarrier frequency

    Basic Parameters: NTSC M
    Line/field: 525/60
    Horizontal frequency: 15.734 kHz
    Vertical frequency: 60 Hz
Color subcarrier freq.: 3.579545 MHz (PAL-M----> 3.575611 MHz)
    Video bandwidth: 4.2 MHz
    Audio carrier: 4.5 MHz (FM)

    Thank you,
    Wilson

JVC has a worldwide VCR. It is S-VHS. About $700 US. Nothing fancy as far as DNR/TBC, however. It's akin to the 4800U units in features.

I do not see info on PAL-M however. You may want to investigate further.

    Lordsmurf,

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately it does not support PAL-M, only european PAL-B/G, D/K.

I read that, but those sales sites can be wrong. I meant try to contact JVC or find a JVC site if you've not done so already. It's the best lead. In fact, call JVC outright. If it exists, they'll probably know. Either them, Sony, or Panasonic. Maybe Mitsubishi.

Thank you I will try to contact again JVC and other vendors directly.

Last time I contacted JVC here in the US, they told me that worldwide models are for overseas market. Also they had no information to talk since they are not available officially in the US market.
