    I noticed at the DVD Author site that all downloads end in 'tag' or 'gz'.
    Where can I obtain the Windows version?

    Look for the windows icon.
    I looked up the gz file extension and it is compressed and you need to decompress the file.

    More than likely the files are compressed, and you need to decompress them.

    Do a TOOLS search for other free authoring solutions. Some are completely free, others have 30 day free trials.
