  1. Hi,

I have a home video (VCD) on which I want to add a scrolling text/watermark/image and burn a new VCD. I have extracted the Video from my VCD. Now, I want to superimpose a watermark/text on the video. What is the simple method to achieve this without loosing much quality.

    Thanks,
    Venky

VirtualDub should be able to help you out. I'm pretty sure it has a filter for logos/watermarks.
    If in doubt, Google it.

You have to reencode, thus a drop in quality. Open the mpeg in VirtuaDubMod, use the logo filter to add your watermark, frame serve to your encoder and reencode to VCD spec and reauthor.
Scrolling text might be possible using a ssa subtitle script (added with the textsub filter in VirtualDub) but I've never done that.

The post above your post has a link to the software and a link to a guide that tells you how to do it so what is your problem other than stupidity or is it more PC to say "lack of intelligence"?

Or "A shrimp short of a BBQ" ?

Short of Remote-Desktop-ing to his/her computer and doing it for him/her, I don't know what further assistance I could have given ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ok, this may freak some out...certainly not newbie stuff:

You CAN apply a watermark to VCD material WITHOUT re-encoding.

    You have to:

    1. Extract VCD material (use ISOBuster, VCDGear, or VCDEasy for best results) to regular mpg1.
    2. Demultiplex to elementary streams
    3. Create a logo in photo editor app and convert it to SVCD/CVD (OGT) sub format (WinSubMux).
    4. Multiplex elementary streams (V + A) + OGT sub (with WinSubMux)--hopefully it won't complain about the V stream being MPEG1. ***This is the old VCDHeader trick!*** (actually SVCD header trick)
    5. Burn as SVCD. Play on player that supports SVCD w/subs.
