hello people.. i was just wondering something.

is there any program that could compress the video a little bit more so maybe movies could fit on one 80min CD rather then burning two. i know i will lose some quality but i also know it can be done.

just wondering if someone could lend a hand here..

    thanks people

Yes, TMPGEnc's Wizard and Main Concept Encoder can adjust bit rates of VCD MPEG files to make them fit on one CD-R. Be advised, if you change the bit rate of a VCD from its standard rate of 1150, you run the risk of it not playing on your DVD, although the risk in somewhat minimal.
    Hello.

    The specification for VCD:NTSC/NTSC Film

    Video:
    1150 kbit/sec MPEG-1
    352 x 240 pixels
    29,97 frames/second
    23,976 frames/second NTSC Film

    Audio:
    44100 Hz
    224 kbit/sec MPEG-1 Layer2

This from the 'What is' to the left.

That said, you can reduce the bitrate below 1150 if your player can handle it and you can stand the loss in quality. TMPGEnc can do that if you unlock the VCD template. You could also reduce your audio bitrate. I would try a sample to see how low you can go. Don't expect a big gain. I think a bitrate of 500 would be unwatchable and probably unplayable, but CDs are cheap.
