    What program should I use to author a 5.1 surround sound DVD if I have a DivX avi with ac3 audio?

    If you can demux the ac3 stream, then DVD Lab will handle 5.1 AC3 audio, as will DVD Architect. DVD Author I believe only handles 2 channel AC3 streams.

    I am assuming you have a 5.1 AC3 audio track in the file.

    Nope. It will accept 5.1, here's a guide from Baldrick click here.
