    Is there a DVD Recorder that has DVR capabilities (like Tivo but is free) and has an Ethernet port (so that you can transfer files to a PC or external hard drive)? Also, it needs to be able to record to disk while watching a file from the disk or watching a DVD. Am I asking for too much?

    Never forget that people (in Hollywood and TV land) make DVD's to make money. They aren't going to bend over backwords to make sure you can pirate all their hard work. Your going to have to put forth a little effort of your own.
