  1. I have never heard of this before yet I have an AVI file that was created with this. My computer plays it but I have not installed this codec before. Anyone know what form of codec this is? Mpeg4 or a divx type of codec?

    Sounds like normal DV. The default MS DV codec should play any DV file you throw at it.

    How big is the file. DV comes in at round 13Gb per hour of video (yes, thats Giga bytes).

    The Sony DV Codec is a very high quality codec, usually installed by Vegas, or with a Sony DV camera. Leaves the MSDV codec for dead (then again, everything does)

    there is also a new Sony YUV codec that comes with vegas 5 (NOT DV)
