u can get alot if not most dvd players mod chipped for multi-region plus dvd players will usually just output pal or ntsc and not convert, it's the tv that needs to be capable of pal or ntsc playback

You want the Cyberhome CH-DVD 500

Also the JVC models are really nice here:

    P.S.
The Cyberhome website seems to be down. It does this often hehehe

I have a Cyberhome CH-DVD 500 and it is great for PAL to NTSC but it does have some "quirks" so I wouldn't use it to play burnt media with for instantance. In other words shouldn't be your only DVD player.

I've always heard really good things about the JVC models especially when using component outputs to do 480p if you have a TV that can handle that.

  4. I think that's one of the tricks.. the deal is, I have two movies I will pick up that are Region 2 that I can't buy Region 1 (they don't exist R1

But they are of course, PAL.. now, if a dvd player isn't region free, I can of course, find one that supports Dual Layer discs, now that I've finally got a bunch of blanks in, and can *migrate* them that way.. but would still need one that did the PAL-NTSC conversion so it'd play on my Sony HDTV box..

yes, the Cyberhome is a PAL/NTCS player that outputs NTSC, and it is region free to boot!

The box says region 1, but the region 2 disc played perfectly.

Any USA model JVC can convert PAL to NTSC but only if the disc is region free since it is locked to region one.

But that website I quoted earlier (HKFlix) has modded JVC DVD players that are region free.

I don't think anyone has a good grasp yet on the whole DVD+R DL thing yet. So far there are many issues.

So chances that a JVC can play a DVD+R DL disc is not too good I'm afraid.
