I generally capture TV streams via my DV Cam via the firewire interface on my PC and Pinnacle Studio. Works well but I have to be present to do the capture.

I see various software packages (e.g Snapstream Beyonf TV) that give PVR functionality with analog TV capture cards. Is there any way or software that that I can use to give me this same PVR functionality via my firewire setup ? I generally want to be able to set the PC to record at a certain time.....

    Thanks
    Chris

back in 01 i was using some software called showshifter. they were discussing adding DV support at that time, it's worth checking it out.

let me know how you get on because i keep reccomending showshifter!

I've been using Iuvcr and capping PICvideo mjpeg from my JVC HR-DVS3U via firewire... The only catch is that I have to set the channel on the deck since firewire connections don't allow for channel selection (at least in my experience)

It's no big deal though... I just set the channel and set the timer in iuvcr and vola!
