Best/Fastest way to cut and rejoin an MPEG2 file

I have this 14Gb MPEG2 (DVD-ready) video file that I captured from a TV program. I would like to remove the commercials and only keep the programming portion altogether.
To this effect there are many programs to cut and rejoin, I have tried Honestech editor but it's really slow. What is the fastest/best software to do this and that will preserve the original video/file parameters and format?

Womble's MPEG2VCR or MPEG Video Wizard will do what you want without re-encoding. Very fast, too.

Freeware that can also cut/join MPEG without re-encoding (but not down to the exact frame) are Cuttermaran and MPEG2Schnitt

You can also do simple editting with TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA) and then author and burn the file, all with the same program.

Thanks, I will try Womble MPEG Video Wizard. One more question: I have this 14Gb TV MPEG2 video file in an external USB2 hard drive. The Womble editor program will be installed in the C drive. What location should I choose for the source and target file to optimize speed and load on the system? Thanks.

I usually find copying files to be faster if the source and target are on the same drive. Your mileage may vary.
