writing on dvd-r's

I was just curious about how people label there dvd discs. Usually, i write on them with a sharpie. Is this a good idear, or can it mess up the disc. Unfortunatly, i do not have a printer to print on them, and im not big on the whole sticky label idear. Just curious how other people label there disc. I have alot of cd-r which i have writen on, from years ago and they all work fine, but i am new to the dvd scene. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I like Tommy's idea...but I just write on them with a sharpie, never had a problem.

Sharpie has no effect at all. Some dvd players can be sensitive to labels. I dont own any but it's reported some players either get thrown off balance or most likely they overheat and pixelate if they have a label. I've never experienced it and i use xbox, ps2, malata, apex and cyberhome players.

I have heard of problems with Sharpies as well. Check this site for more info. I am still waiting for the first problems reported playing a hub label.

I use a soldering iron.

I write on the recording side with a permanent marker BEFORE I burn it, then use Isopropyl alcohol to get it off. The text is then permanently IN the disc like a watermark, and can't get scratched, rubbed off or anything !
