the programme runs for 2 hours and i would like for it to start recording automatically

can record to any audio format as long as i can get it onto a CD (After editing)

LINE OUT (typically RCA type) on radio or stereo receiver to LINE IN on your sound card (typically 1/8 inch phone type)

Record in *.wav using any decent audio software.

After recording use software to split up songs (chapters / breaks in broadcast)

a thought Maybe virtual dub can do the recording . Use Virtual Dub to edit the portions you want and "direct stream" copy them.

For the "recording automatically" there is a modded version of virtual dub that does TV it may work . will search for it.............

I use Blaze Audio Products. I hook up the sterio to the computer like holistic said. Use the porgram Power record, to record to the hd. It is programable as to time, and source. Then I edit out the comercials, and burn back to a CD.
    Thanks Mike

www.cdwave.com or Audacity are good programs for recording to WAV/MP3/OGG.

Both standard and pro editions of Total Recorder from www.highcriteria.com have scheduling and timer operations to begin and end your recordings automatically when you want. It can record in mp3, wav or ogg, your choice. I use it all the time and like this program a lot due to its simplicity and options. Price is low too, only $11.95 for the standard edition. Take a look and see if it will do what you need.
